there I will be one day

get used to the idea,
maybe I'll just have to do

Well, here I am still in Ulan Bator with my bad cough. So I guess I have to write about how it went since I arrived here, nearly one week ago.
On thursday I came back from horseriding. I was ill, and I headed for Gana's guest house, where I rented a bed in one of the gers on the roof.
At first I met Andy and Liv. A swiss man and a norvegian girl, and I had a very good time with them. Andy is of the type "want to do and see it all", a very passionate man with a contagious energy. Liv was more into resting, doing not much and wondering for a few days what she should do in Mongolia...
I am relating all that because these two person were my perfect companions regarding my mood at the moment: being ill, I needed to rest and do not too much, but also I could not stay laying in my ger all day long. So I spent most of my time with Liv, visiting the monastery, getting our visa extensions, chatting and thinking about what and how to do in Mongolia. Andy took us to the throat singing show, and joined us regularly, when he was not organising his 2 months stay in Mongolia. Liv and I being both ill, we let time go easily. One thing I forgot to say, is that Liv is of the "Marine" type, for those who know Marine: very entertaining!!! You can sit, watch and listen to her, you just never get bored and have regular good laughs (sorry Liv, sorry Marine, but... only the truth!).
On friday I got myself to the so called "black market", which is a giant and cheap market to get all sorts of things. There I bought all I needed for my horseriding trip.
Then Angelique, the dutch girl I had met in Irkutsk, arrived on sunday. I took her and Liv to the market again. By this tine, each of us was trying to arrange his own trip. I had talked to everybody about my experience at Jennie's, so all of them planned to go. Andy ended up meeting a british Andy, with whom he had been travelling in Africa 3 years ago. They found themselves an exceptional tour with local and european musicians, going to a shamanic gathering in the center of Mongolia. Liv and Angelique decided to spend a couple of days horseriding with Jennie, and then to go to take a tour to the Gobi (Liv) or join a guy who was travelling in Mongolia with a truck (Angelique). In our guest house there are also these italians who go to play music in the homeless children shelter, and who will be spending a few weeks building an orphanage not far from UB. There were also these 2 swiss guys who went almost immediately to Gobi after finding the israelis we had just met. And this senior teatcher from Canada who was headed to Beijing for a conference on material resistance... he could speak speak french and even norvegian! All of this to illustrate how small is UB, bustling with all kind of travellers doing all kind of trips. This is the way it usually goes, but this activity is especially dense and enthousiastic here. I did not even mention all the people that were returning from trips to the countryside: all I will say is that all of them were cheerfully delighted of their stay. My turn soon!
