I arrived in Paris in the afternoon with my uncle Jacques, and went directly to retrieve my passport and visas.
That done, I headed for Les Halles, the heart of Paris, to meet my good friends Elsa, Marco, Lionel, and Sophie at the Zango Bar. The Zango Tree being the traveller's tree, the Zango bar is set to be the traveller's bar: a good collection of Lonely Planet and Routard guides, lots of space, good food and excellent service (Address: rue du Cygne, Paris 1).
After a good meal, lots of talking, and a couple bottles of wine, I set with Marco for a preparatory round the world pub crawl, from Les Halles to Bastille. We were short on time, so we couldn't do as many as we wanted...
- Africa and Antillas: Bar Afro Cubain, rue St Denis: Pina Colada and Cuba Crusta
- Australia: Cafe OZ, rue St Denis: Foster's
- Ireland: Stolly's, rue Cloche Perce: Guiness + Drambuie/Jack Daniels: That gave us a taste of Scotland and US as well !!!
- Holland: Klein Holland, rue du Roi de Sicile: Grolsch + Hup Holland Huppie (these little orange liquor botles they have for queensday)
- Russia: Politburo, rue du Roi de Sicile: Vodka
- Scotland: Scots go to bed early, they didn't let us in!
- France: Le Rempart, rue St Antoine: St Emilion
Then everything was closed and we went home to finish with some Japanese whisky and a Belgian Duvel
We had a bike when we started, but we got home walking... and we couldn't agree on the place we forgot the bike...
The next morning I slept, while Marco went to work. hehehe!
Thanks Marco, around the world with you anytime, anywhere!
