Today the kickoff meeting was held with the two brothers Alix and Vincent.
We have agreed on things not to miss, how long to spend in different places, and made a tentative planning. Of course we will certainly modify it as we go, but being 3 and having a limited amount of time, we don't want to lose time by lack of preparation.
So here is the planning:
june 27: Alix leaves from Toulouse
june 28: Alix arrives in Beijing
june 29: Vincent leaves from Toulouse, and I take the train from Ulan Bator to Beijing
june 30: Vincent arrives in Beijing
july 1-4: stay in and around Beijing with dad. We will have other opportunities to visit in the coming 3 years.
july 4-12: We will have a 30h train from Beijing to Chongqing, on the Yangtse river. From there we will take a cruise boat, going down the Yangtse for 3 days, until we reach Yichang. From there, we need to reach Wuhan by bus defore taking a train south to Guilin and finally Hanoi (another 30h or so).
july 12-16: visit Hanoi, take a tour to Along Bay
july 17-18: we will try to sleep at the Cuc Phuong Parc, and visit Hoa Lu and Tam Coc. Then we will head south to Hue
july 19-21: Hue
july 21-23: Danang
july 24-25: we will take the train south, and depending on time and mood, we might stopover in Hoi An, My Son, Nha Trang, Mui Ne
july 26-27: Saigon
july 28-29: travel to the Mekong delta, and back to Saigon
july 30: last day in Saigon, time for shopping
july 31: Alix takes the plane back to Toulouse. Vincent is booked on the same plane, but he might take the opportunity to add a return ticket from Saigon to Seoul, to visit his friend Guillaume in Korea
