Revolving a day back around the world - From
there I will be one day
younger... and if I can't
get used to the idea,
maybe I'll just have to do
it again the other way...

I ended up buying my round the world ticket just 2 days before leaving home, after over a month of trying to find the "right" one.
At first I wanted to buy my round the world ticket in France. Turned out that the one year validity could be a bit short. I looked for tickets starting from Indonesia and, lately, from Australia.
I eventually bought my RTW from STA travel in Perth, with a oneworld explorer fare 40% cheaper than in France, UK, or Indonesia. Any question regarding this: contact me.
So to start the tour, I bought a ticket from Paris to Moscow from SAS. From there I will take the transiberian/transmongolian, and then some more trains/boats/buses to cross China from north to south, continuing further down to Ho-Chi-Minh in Vietnam. I will continue overland through Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore. From there my best bet is to use the ferry to move to Sumatra, Java, and Bali. End of Eurasian continent.
I still need to find a way to go from Jakarta or Bali to Perth. Within Australia, I will certainly use a mix of bus and last minute planes. My round the world tiket starts in Sydney, going to Queenstown, on New Zealand's south island. Some friends should join me at this point, so we might hire/buy a car/van.
Then the plane again from Auckland to Papeete, then to Easter Island, and again to Santiago. After 3 months mainly by bus in south Chile, Argentina, Urugay, Paraguay, I will go back to Chile. I have a plane booked from Santiago to Antofagasta, in north Chile. From there I will move on to La Paz, in Bolivia, by means still to be determined. Then crossing over to Peru via lake Titicaca. Overland to Lima and later Quito, Ecuador. Then by air from Quito back to Lima, and from Lima to Caracas, Venezuela. From there I hope to hop into Carthagena in Colombia.
My return plane is from Caracas to Toulouse, via Madrid.

Où est ton 'plan de route' ? (reply) Apr 24, 2006 18:06 EST by elsalicorne
