Revolving a day back around the world - From
there I will be one day
younger... and if I can't
get used to the idea,
maybe I'll just have to do

Is the first question « why leaving? » or « why going? »
The luxury of leisure travel is that these two questions are relevant.
Keeping in mind that I have the immense priviledges of choosing to leave, deciding where to go, and knowing I will return, that possibility to travel arond the world still requires a bit of efforts and reflexion before becoming a reality.
Travel can be done in two manners : by movement and by thought. The first is a choice and a priviledge. The second requires and develops imagination. Travelling by thought is vital, and moving around enriches it for you and those you meet.
Quotes from adventuring writers, travel diaries, documentaries... all of these feed your dreams. But once you have tasted travelling, each time the excitation comes back to memory and asks to be re-awaken. Feed the imagination, confront the body to immensity and diversity, let the mind undergo many experiences : discovery, lonelyness (violent and short). To be oneself when alone and with others. Be honnest in relationships and actions... and meet peers, people without inner boudaries, be they travellers or hosts
I did look for a driving idea for this trip. There are plenty, that can be realized with diverse resources and efforts. In the end, I came to the conclusion that I would travel driven by need, by desire, by the need to desire. And travelling does not call for a reason.

Gracias amigo! My spanish is still very poor, but I plan to arrange that as soon as I land in Chile, with an intensive course, to start with.
You are welcome to join in south america. Matthieu will be joining in Newzealand in november.

the first one? (reply) Apr 21, 2006 20:05 EST by dianasays
Hi! If your friends don't want to begin writing (writing the first message is always a bit intimidating, isn't it?), I'll do it!
First: I just love that picture just above!
Then: I just love the idea of winning a day of your life when going RTW 'backwards'! Did you make that choice because of this 'concept' or else for any 'real good' reason? What do RTW-trippers usually do??
