I wouldn't say I have culture shock just yet, just culture fascination. I'm told that we are in the "honeymoon phase" of the trip. The 4th or 5th week we will inevitably experience some sort of tension: homesickness, culture shock, etc. I know I will definitely experience homesickness, and they say keeping in more frequent touch will make it worse. I will continue to go online, but maybe pray for me come the end of September!
The people here are very beautiful, very dressy, too. I don't particularly enjoy dressing up all the time (as opposed to my sister, Jessyca, who's motto could be: "Every day is an occasion to dress up.") But I love how it's okay to wear the same outfit for a couple days in a row. It's a brilliant idea. Also, to prod you to start up this fashion again, mullets are not uncommon here.
Yesterday we attended the Kazansky Cathedral. During the Soviet period is served as the Museum of Athiesm. Ironic. It was a beautiful service. I want to learn more about the Orthodox church; it seems almost unheard of in America. More thumbnails ...
