Our flight from Narita into Brisbane was largely uneventful save for a case of tactical naivity by myself on choosing seats. What appeared on paper to be a master stroke by pitching all of us with front seats (albeit on different parts of the plane) backfaired dramatically when upon borading the plane we realised that in fact the front seats were amongst the worst on the very old Japan Airlines 747. With a large plasma screen just 12 inches from our noses and zero legroom (leaving Carl with his knees somewhere near his forehead)!

Anyway, afetr a brief taxi ride to Glenn & Angela's house and shower we were ready for the next chapter of our adventure - Queensland in a week!

The afternoon was spent in the glorious sunshine in downtown Brisbane, inevitably commencing a mammoth ale session yet again Chris's Debut performance in Oz

! This wetted our appetite for a lengthened session and we quickly abandoned the plans to stay over at Glenns house (some 40 minutes out of town) in turn for a night out in Brisbane and staying in the Pacific International Apartments. A great choice! Early indications suggested Brisbane was going to be a let down with lots of leary pissed Ozzies ripping us at every opportunity. However, once we stumbled upon the Victory pub (some 6 pints later) it turned out to be one of the best nights out we'd had so far. Karaoke highlights included various duets on Oasis numbers but without question the performance of the evning was saved until last. The ever stage confident Chris stepped to the stage to tackle Ronan Keating's "The Way You Make Me Feel". After missing the cue to start, he missed the secong line, first verse entirely and in fact, the whole song. He stood mouth open waiting to sing but was so pissed he couldnt remember the song. Suppose you had to be there but it was a classic moment.

Somehow we managed to stay up until 5.00am which meant we'd not had a proper sleep since Thursday - some 48 hours before. Needless to say, the next morning was written off completely!
