Thanksgiving photos from Cauhita Beach, Hone Creek, and Limon

So Iīve made it to the 3 month mark as a volunteer. And over 6 months in country. Woot! Definitely lovinī the life here.

IST, In Service Training, is a week long training at a nice hotel here in SJ. PC is paying for everything and todayīs lunch was blissfully rice free. Tortellini, which I havenīt had in AGES.

Christmas-
Christmas cookies eaten- CERO. (Well, thatīs not entirely true, a certain someone sent me a tin of Xmas cookies, homemade, I think, in a pkg that I picked up today. Thanks!!)
Tamales eaten- less than 5. Helped make them, which is a day long process. These tamales had lots of rice and veggies and meat. I donīt care for the ones that have 3 grains of rice and a sliver of carrot and chicken. They were pretty good, if I do say so myself.
Cups of agua dulce consumed- too many... Agua dulce is made with milk or water and the sugar of sugar cane. Itīs basically sugar water, but not...
Vacas milked- five. Milked cows and drank the milk, boiled, of course.

New Years-
Went to a concert in a town nearby. All the young hooligans were there. By that, I mean anybody who is anybody under the age of 30. And of course, yours truly is a Somebody. Mostly just grass lounged and people watched. Realized reggatone is only good for dancing, as I canīt stand listening to it under every day circumstances.

This whole week, was working on a fair to benefit indigenous children in Zona Sur. It was a lot of work... We had some press coverage and I was on the news, Informe Once (11). Que verguenza, verdad... (How embarassing.) We ended with fireworks and I ended with a crick in the neck. Here, you donīt need permits for the fireworks that you set off in the sky. So they were right above us. We raised a lot of money and I was very impressed with the youth group that I worked with. They only had the support of their parents and did all the work themselves. More organized than I thought, apparently...

Anyhow, thatīs all my news for now.

Congrats on hitting 3 months!
I'm glad you're enjoying your time as a volunteer. It sounds like your holiday was busy but a lot of fun. The picture of you milking the cow is really cool. Was it weird at first? It's cool that the fair raised a lot of money.

As for TX news, it's gotten freakishly cold. Dallas got snow/sleet yesterday, and Houston hit below freezing at one point (so my morning classes were cancelled). This semester has been going well so far. I've been casted in 'Much Ado About Nothing,' which has a British director. ^_^ My roommates know what role I have, but they won't tell me until the list is finalized.

Anyway, I hope you had fun at the IST. Adios! ~Jen
