I got up early (well, normal time, I suppose) at 5 to come into the office to use the computers before heading off to my regional Volunteer Action Committee (VAC) meeting- about a 2-3 hour bus ride away. So far, so good. Haven't had to share a computer. I don't think anyone else's desire to wake up before 6 was overridden by a mad craving and urge to use the Internet...

There are pictures located in the last entry. Hope everyone enjoys them since I've gotten several emails asking when am I going to post pics.

Anyhow, I've got 5 min before I have to go catch the bus. So this is just a quickie.

Went to Volcano Poas last Friday. It was cool, but not as great as everyone made it out to be. Or maybe I'm just not a volcano person. Or it might've been the fact that I went off the concrete sidewalk path onto a dirt path that turned out to not really be a path and got lost in the forest for 30 minutes... Yup, that must've been it. I scream and yelle d for help in Eng and Spanish and no knights in shining armour came crashing through the bush to rescue me, or even a park ranger. I would've settled for a non-English/Spanish speaking person (there were a lot of Europeans). I wandered around, getting more scared by the minute (no animals, just the thoguth of the bus leaving me and never getting out and having to sustain on my one pack of oeroes and goldfish - thanks Michele!!- for weeks before I escaped.) Anyhow, found my way out and promised myself to never again wander off the path. Also, decided that the romantic life of trail-beating and forest trekking really isn't all it's cracked up to be. Cross forest ranger off my list of things I want to be when I grow up.

Also, went to the Gold Museum Wed. Turned out to be free for PC vols. Yay!! I'll take it! It didn't have that much gold. Mostly artifacts from the indigenous people- stone tools/ statues, etc. there was an interesting money exhibit, though. V. Informative. Also, not very impressive. Bldg layout not very good. No flow. And it would've only been worth 1 mil in colones entrance fee, but I wouldn't have paid more. Better museums elsewere...

Anyhow, must go now!! I'm behind on emails so if I haven't responded, it's because I haven't opened it yet.

awesome!
Hey Kira,

I know, I'm terrible about leaving comments, but I still read everything that you post! I just saw the photos from the last entry (I don't know how I managed to miss them!) and everything looks so beautiful and tropical!! I'm glad you're having such a good time (think of getting lost in the woods as an adventure that you can tell your kids some day!)... sorry I haven't sent you any mail, though. School's insane, and winter's setting in, which means it's too cold for little-lazy-me to walk all the way to the post office. Happy Canadian Thanksgiving (this Monday!)!! I'm going home to Dallas in two weeks for a couple of days, so I'll try to ship you some stuff then. Any requests? There are some awesome books out that I've read lately, so I'll send a couple of those along if I can get them in paperback, and I'll smuggle you some chocolate and junkfood too (more oreos?). Is your address still Apartado 1266-1000?

So, what's the policy on visitors down there? I can fly DFW to Costa Rica for, like, $100 round trip or something... not sure how likely that would be, but if you're gonna be there for AGES and AGES... :D! Anyways, just playing around on the American Airlines site.

Take care, don't get lost, enjoy your work, and don't break any more bones!

Miss you oodles,

Michelle

I would have cried if I got lost! Lol... It sounds like an adventure, though!

Indiana Jones
Wow! What a trip! Are you sure you're not related to Iniana Jones? You sure are the adventurous type, wandering off the beaten path and all, ie CR.

Love you lots and asking God to guide you wherever you go, even trekking into the unknown!
