I've been in Chicago since I left Montana last Tuesday. It's been pretty exciting; I got to stay and hang out with my oldest brother, Caz, and his wife Reagan. While residing with them for three days, we had some great food, saw "Pan's Labyrinth" (a very artistic movie which I recommend), explored some of downtown Chicago, and attended an architecture competition and lecture at the Art Institute. Caz and Reagan's apartment is in a nice neighborhood and is very beautiful; not too surprising considering that Caz is an architect.

Katrina, my sister, and her roommate Jill have been very gracious in letting me camp out on their living room floor for the last two nights. After hoofing-it around the city for many hours yesterday - and seeing some intriguing shops - we were too beat to go to a play as we had planned, so we rented "Lady in the Water," the new flick from Shyamalan. As with all Shyamalan movies, it was suspenseful and led up to a let-down of an ending. I didn't think that there was enough mystery, or even story, to warrant it being a good movie, but you might disagree.

Anyway, today has been a restful day. I've been reading "The Golden Compass" by Philip Pullman, a book that I picked up at a neat book store called The Myopic Bookstore. I was introduced to the fantasy novel by Kelly, my girlfriend, a few weeks ago. She didn't find it quite so enthralling, but I'm more attracted to the genre than she is, so no surprise there. I also picked up "Story of the Irish Race" by Seumas (not your typical spelling) MacManus at the same bookstore. My uncle Steve owns an older edition of the book - inherited, I believe, from my dad's mother - and I began reading it before leaving. I look forward to learning even more about the history of the fascinating culture that is Irish. But anyway, back to the present...
Kate has been cooking a lemon tart for a dinner-party at Caz and Reagan's tonight. We're having skirt and flank steaks, potatoes, salad, and all the usual accoutrements, plus Katrina's dessert dish. And we're getting ready to depart, so I'll be signing off now.

Ah, so I see you decided to become a pod-dy/dee/die...however you want to say it. Anyways, I am excited to hear about your upcoming adventures.

Hey, one favor I ask of ye while you're in that there country over there....Find out the rest of the lyrics to the song 'Some say the devil is dead, the devil is dead, the devil is dead. Some say the devil is dead and buried in Killarney! More so he rose again, more say he rose again, more say he rose again and joined the British Army!'

All the best!
