Don't Be A Tourist

A tourist is culture blind.
A tourist sees the world in his OWN eyes.
A tourist is KING in the land of the underprivileged.

A tourist is that image you see on a postcard with the inscription "Wish You Were Here!"
A tourist is as phony as the two-dollar Rolex he bought in Old Shanghai.

A tourist will go shopping in Paris, eat fish and chips in London, climb the Great Wall, and boast that he has seen the world.
A tourist has lived moments as exciting as this exclamation mark!

A tourist is too comfortable in his own world.
A tourist is too afraid to be out of his element.
A tourist is afraid of change.

Don't be a tourist.

Instead . . .

Be A Traveler

A traveler is culture.
A traveler sees the world through other people's eyes.
A traveler is humbled in the land of the underprivileged.

A traveler is that broken Chinese being spoken as you attempt to converse with an elderly woman.
A traveler is as genuine as the smile you receive from a little child running around a dimly lit alleyway.

A traveler tries his best to speak the language, eats and exchanges stories with the locals, and shares with the world what he has learned.
A traveler is that one amazing picture you share with a friend.

A traveler belongs to this world.
A traveler lives to be out of his element.
A traveler embraces change.

A traveler is a life long learner.

Be a traveler.
