From Bukhara we took a shared taxi to Samarkand. The roads needed a repavement as much as their drivers needed driving lessons. But considering that there were no dividing lines on the road, I guess that meant no rules could be broken. Regardless, we made it to Samarkand after three hours of being sandwiched between two other locals. I, unfortunately got stuck riding in the middle seat in the back.

Samarkand is similar to Bukhara but much bigger. It has a historical quarter, Registan Square. The square consists of three large medressas all built in similar architectural styles. The Registan, with its intricate tile designs, could easily be the "eighth wonder of the world."
