We got a pick up from the airport, which the Hostel we're staying at sorted out for us. The weather was awful it was absolutely chucking it down what are the chances in Rio of it raining? Very slight! Anyway we arrived at the Mellow Yellow Hostel about 8pm that would be about 1am back home. Got shown to our room then headed straight to the bar! Saturday was a bit of a right off due to jet lag mainly, plus it was still raining. Although we did go for a walk along Copacabana beach, which is a 2min walk from the hostel.
The Maracana Stadium is one of the biggest football stadiums in the world and the Brazilians are renowned for their passion for all things Footbol. The atmospheres at their matches are supposed to be amazing so we went along with a group from the hostel to a local match on Sunday. Fluminense V Flamengo we were in the Flamengo stands they were a local team and there was a hell of a turn out to support them. The atmosphere was definitely amazing nothing like I'd seen before back home, check out the photos. Unfortunately you never quite capture how it makes you feel when your there, in a photo, never mind aye.
The following day we took the bus out of Copacabana and went and did Sugar Loaf Mountain, which is apparently so named because when the Portuguese came to land here it glistened like gold/sugar in the sun. There's a cable car going up to it which gives you an amazing view of Rio de Janeiro, I didn't realise Rio was so huge and not only that but the way in which hills and forest split up the city makes it unique, it has the largest Urban rain forest in the world. On the Sugar Loaf was the first view we had of Christ the Redeemer, I had no idea it was so high up!
About lunch time we got the bus back to Copacabana where we had some lunch in what looked like a fast food pizza place but turned out to be really yum! (as most of you know I have a thing about fast food, the thing being that I don't like it so I was a bit dubious) but the pizza was hand baked from scratch and they also did pasta so I had a four cheese pasta which was really nice. My pasta and Bushy's Pizza came to about Ģ7 including drinks so can't complain really.
At about 3pm that day we were booked onto a tour to go up to Christ the Redeemer which I was really looking forward to especially after seeing it from Sugar Loaf earlier that day.
B- Picked up from hostel by the most annoying rep on earth, apparently he is best mates with all the drug barons and the king of Brazil (does he exist?) . When we finally got to the location after 20 minutes of inane drivel, christ was one of the most impressive things i have ever seen. Even a heathen like me was affected by it. Mr boring suddenly showed the real reason why he was there and gave an in depth talk on how it was built and the lives lost, cost etc.. (in hindsight maybe the talk wasnīt that great as i canīt remember any of the details) anyway the trip was well worth the money, about 15 quid. And was rounded of by a trip to a helicopter pad to watch the sunset and see Christ lit up from below. All in all very worth while and better than i expected not sure the pics really do it justice.

At last I've had time to reply to you! It looks like you are having a great time and I know I shouldn't be but I'm still jealous, but it was our choice to buy the motorhome instead of travelling further afield.
