3 Days ago we dove the Holchan Marine reserve, lots of beautiful fish, coral and even a couple of eagles and rays- how to translate what we see to our friends, our cheap underwater camera is just not gonna do it. Maybe a real camera lies in our future.
Today was a sunny but windy day with 7-8 foot waves, but the die hard divers, including us decided to go to one of the most anticipated dive sites, outside of the reef. Tres Cocos Canyon and Tres Coco Cut. Halfway to the reef, only 1/2 mile from shore a 8 foot wave hits the boat and coming down on the other end we all came out of our seats, as I braced myself (don't do that), a pain so severe shot from my foot, through the ankle, up the sciatica to the left hand side of my hip, ouch. When we got to the dive site, we were told to hurry into the water and go below as it is never as wavy the deeper you go, I tried to stand, but just a couple of inches off the seat and the most horrendous pain, made my eyes water, carrying 50 LBS of BCD, regulator and tank did not help, as I immediately slid back down on the bench

Jose Luis- Assistant Captain
. Sadly I could not maneuver and hat to sit out the dive on the boat, breeching the highest waves I had seen in a long time. The captain, ever the joker (haha to you too), said as long as we were facing into each wave we were fine, tell that to the roller coaster ride we encountered for the next 40 minutes. Halfway through he fell asleep -oh great, and when the boat started getting a life of its own and moved sideways into the waves I realized that I could not get up to wake him, and had to shout his name a half dozen times before he woke up, realizing what was happening. By the time he got the boat back in the right direction, the divers started popping up and it was one of the most difficult situations to get back on the boat, but from the excited talk, worthwhile the dive. Arriving back at the pier, unfastening my gear took me 10 minutes and another 10 to get off the boat, bent over like the Hunchback of Notre Dame, where is my AARP card?. I could not even ride the bike home. Got a massage 2 days in a row, no more diving for now, I can just hope that by the time we get to the mainland I will be able to don my gear, otherwise I may have to drink away my sorrows with numerous pina coladas
