Well after a great pasta night (thanks Davey and Teens), sad goodbyes to the gang (boo hoo) and a long flight, we arrived in beautiful Buenos Aires...Sluggo and a lovely girl from BA called Maggie (whom Sluggo had met through some friends) were there to meet us! Thank you to them and to Sam for dropping us off in Sydney! You Gowlands are legends!

Sluggo had booked us a room at the Limehouse hostel right in the centre of town. Being the friendly guy he is, Sluggo was definitely the man about the hostel after being there for three weeks! People were always asking him questions! He he! True to its name the old building was painted in lime green, with lovely big ceilings, spacious rooms, a cool bar and a rooftop terrace, where you could look over the widest avenue in the world, the Avenue 9 de Julio! We had a great couple of nights in the hostel before deciding that we had to move into a quieter place for some sleep!! We found a nice hotel around the corner that was cheap and we could share two rooms that overlooked the beautiful old buildings lining Avenue de Mayo that ends up at the famous Congress building. Right in amongst it all!

The next week was spent hanging out in what is now one of my favourite cities in the world! BA has such a European feel but is spiced with South American flavour! We explored the main city area full of music, weird and wonderful characters and mothers who keep vigil for their lost sons, we wandered through the famous cemetery (which feels like a city in itself!), we saw a great Rembrant exhibition at the National Art gallery and then ventured down the road to the Latin American Art Museum and saw works by amazing regional artists, we checked out the bright coloured buildings of the La Boca suburb where the Italian working class once lived,

we explored the Sunday Antique Market in San Telmo complete with street tango performances and dined at a micro brewery (Pauley loved it!), we lay in beautiful parks after big nights on the town, ate so much meat at the all you can eat meat restaurants and basically soaked up life in BA!

One of my favourite nights out was spent at the stunning Colon Theatre seeing the Philharmonic Orchaestra followed by dinner (at midnight!) in a fabulous little wine bar and then we hit the town and saw a transvestite show at an awesome nightclub!(try the video out to see what it was all about) Two cultural extremes in one night! Wandering home at 7am you would see older people still out after spending the night watching tango entertainers in little bars! It is quite literally the city that dosent sleep until 10am! He he! As you can imagine the boys loved the superponcho (hot dog) places that are littered around the city and stay open 24 hours!

Maggie was also so wonderful to get to know. She showed us around local places and tourist attractions, gave us lessons on the history of the area and put our names on doors at clubs so we got in for free! Thank you Maggie!

All in all our time in BA was fabulous and I canīt wait to go back there in a few months before we fly home! Needless to say it was hard to leave but we had to as we all have the flu and the road is calling us....itīs off to the Iguazu falls on a 18 hour bus ride! Hugs to you all xo
