What is that feeling when youre driving away from people and they recede on the plain till you see their specks dispersing? - its the too-huge world vaulting us, and its goodbye. But we lean forward to the next crazy venture beneath the skies? Jack Kerouac
So onto New Years and what we got up to. As we had no real plans for what to do (story of the trip so far..he he!) after some beers in our hammocks we headed into Lagoa, the nearest town. What is usually a happening kind of place was deserted so we found the only cafe open and settled in for some dinner. John befriended everyone who came through the door and we discovered that Praia Mole, the beach down the road, was where everyone heads to see in the new year. So we caught a bus and were just in time for countdown fireworks and caprihinias on the sand. As we were/ still are struggling coz we no longer have any CD players, we were keen to chill out to some tunes
The next day was spent recovering in hammocks and devouring our daily treat, which is a refreshing dish called Acai na Tigela. When my two best gals, Katie and Mog, were travelling through Brazil two years ago they told me about Acai. It is an amazonian berry that is really good for you and pretty damn tasty! Acai Na Tigela is made by blending the acai berry and guarana together and serving it with banana and muesli! They were right, I love it! He he!
Sadly, on the 3rd of January it was time to farewell florianopolis. We were really sad to put Amanda and John on the bus to Rio, we were such a little team and we miss them heaps! It was also sad to farewell the lovely Fabiano and Davi, they made our time in Floripa so special and we know we will be back to see them! The last thing we did before leaving was plant the Christmas frangipani tree in the yard, so now we have even more of an excuse to come back to our special island! Now we head to Ilha Do Mel (aka Honey Island) so stay tuned! xo

01. Katie and Amanda
. So we followed the music down the beach to a little bar which we quickly discovered was hosting a gay and lesbian party. Needless to say we had a fabulous time! We danced the night away, made some new friends and realised, much to our dismay, that Brazilians usually wear the colour white out on new years eve!
