Attractive small town with an inexpensive - and empty - campsite on the bank of a river. I had half an hour or so with my handline and bits of lardon and naturally caught - nothing.

We had a very nice lunch in the large and beautifully decorated "Restaurace Patriot", Argentisky Rumpsteak in a brandy and mushroom sauce, jacket potato stuffed with a cream chive dressing and - surprise - crisp chilled lettuce, all served by a pleasant waitress. With my litre (yes) of Gambrinus, D's large Merlot and a chocolate fudge type pudding, our espressos and the tip the bill came to 600 Ck. Interestingly, coffee at the restaurant was less than half the price we were charged at a Café in town.

We weighed ourselves this morning, the previous time being on the 7th and I, to my delight, found that I have at last broken the 12stone barrier. I am now at 11stone 12lbs, down from around 15stone - bless you Michael Moseley - and, as D is now also happy with her weight, we are amending our diet. Instead of 2 days per week restricting our calorie intake to around 500, we are going to diet one day only. We do, however, intend sticking to 2 alcohol-free days each week. Ameliorating our consciences after our substantial lunch we got the bikes out and had a 12k ride along the riverside.
