The first one is downtown. It's on the quiet end of a very busy funky shopping strip in the heart of the city. It's 2 blocks away from Stanley Park (see previous entry) and is on the 6th floor. The balcony has city lights view and part views of the harbour. The apartment is newly renovated, is quite small by Australian standards - but not by Canadian! 1 bedroom with built in robes, kitchen has a fridge included - and heat and hot water is included in the grand price of $880 per month. The building has underground parking for an additional $50 per month, it has laundry facilities (which is not always a given - and is very painful to hike to the laundromat), and is high-speed internet ready. :0)
The second apartment is in a very suburban part of the trendy west end - a little bit out of the main busy area. It's a bright-ish basement suite in a very nice new house. The apartment is brand new, heated carpets, new bathroom, includes high speed internet, cable, heat and hot water and electricity, has plenty of street parking and an independant alarm system. It's the warmest basement apartment - but the kitchen is very basic. No oven, it comes with a convection microwave, a very small sink and a plugged in hot plate - like something you'd take camping (almost). So, that is the major drawback, but all of that is included in the bargain basement price of $750 per month.
So, we've applied for the Robson St apartment, and by applying - if we get it we have to take it or we forfeit our security deposit - but.. the chances of us getting an apartment with neither of us having an income... might be a bit of a stretch.
We find out tomorrow if we get it - and if not, we'll apply for the basement apartment - which would be much cheaper with all the inclusions...
