By now I was thoroughly in France, although it's a strange place where the official language literally depends on who you talk to. English speakers will say hello, French speakers rattle off a bonjour, but both are capable of swapping. Which is handy as although I know a few words, my one year of 3rd year French isn't quite enough for me to attempt any sort of conversation. Yes, I'm a bad englishman expecting them to speak French, but come on, it's Canada and they should speak English anyway.
We arrived and the first thing was to solve the puzzle of what to do with the car. The onstreet parking was limited to particularly times so I left Graham who was busting for the bog whilst I headed off to see if I could find a spot down the street. He headed in the hostel and said I'd just be a couple of minutes. I couldn't find anything just down the road so thought I'd go once around the block so turned right then right then found myself on the highway and after my next right was about 5 miles back along the road we drove in on. D'oh! I eventually got back and we went for the safe option of a proper car park. We did some pottering about the old town and that was about it.
The weather was looking good the next day so we walked up the hill to the park and had a wander and then jumped on the subway to the Olympic Park or Parc Olympique as those crazy French fools call it. The velodrome has been converted in to a biosphere and as we were there we went in to look at the usual collection of animals and plants in a variety of temperatures and climates.
Umm that was about it for Montreal. The amount of tourism is slowing at the same rate as the number of trips to the pictures is increasing. We went to see Ironman (pretty good if you go expecting what you get) and Forgetting Sarah Marshall (average, the Canadian crowd seemed to like Russell Brand who was playing himself essentially).
