I had a fairly restful last day in Calgary, Steve suggested taking me up the Calgary Tower again but I wasn't keen after disappointment of the first time, that lads obsessed. By then I was fairly well orientated and I had some chores to do so spent the day getting accommodation sorted and typing up entries for this 'ere travelpod. When Steve got back from work we shifted their recently acquired picanic table oot from the garage in to their back yard. It's a fine addition and we immediately took advantage of the spanking new beer garden by sitting in the sun enjoying Calgary's finest Keiths IPA. In fact, it was such a nice night we ended up sitting oot there chatting until the sun went down and was a cracking way to end my time there. I had offered to stay as a pet, but for some reason it was laughed off as if I was joking. I'd have been no bother.
Sadly it was time to go though and I was due on an early morning flight to get me back to Vancouver for my flight across to Toronto. It appears I was lucky, the flight before mine had been cancelled as the engine was still stuffed because of a bird strike and there was a queue of people rearranging their flights as I got to the departure gate. It was a clear morning and the plane took off and swung right around in a circle over the city, making it appear like toytown. As we headed away from Cowtown at 15,000ft I resisted the urge to skydive and the great views continued as we headed over the Rockies.
I got to Vancouver with a bit of spare time so I was pleased when I was offered an earlier flight. Bonus, my luck was in. I had a middle seat, but it was only for 6 hours which is now quite a quick flight for me. We touched down a little ahead of schedule and I headed to baggage claim. Quick question, I walk fairly fast but I noticed something I did which possibly other people do. Why do people who are walking quickly start ambling when they walk on travelators? Defeats the purpose a little bit. Anyway, I sat waiting for my bag, all relaxed as I was earlier than I ever planned on being there, but not too many bags came oot. A sinking feeling was kicking in and my suspicions were confirmed when I checked my baggage claim ticket. The ever helpful check in girl got me on an earlier flight, but didn't put my bag on it. So, I sat and did my waiting in Toronto rather than Vancouver as my bag stuck to my original flight schedule. Top tip, always check the baggage claim ticket flight number matches.
