To complete the trilogy of places on Vancouver Island we went to Victoria, which is the capital of British Columbia. It's a nice enough place I suppose but there's not a lot to it. We bumped in to the Scottish couple from Nanaimo and after finishing laughing at the lad they confirmed it by saying they'd struggled having headed straight there. There were a few whale tours and seaplanes but as they've been done it was just a case of living the north american dream. After munching a burger and watching some hockey we headed to the maddest dorm I've ever been in. 44 beds! It was only after checking in and seeing it that I looked at the Lonely Planet that mentions the military style bunks. They were arranged in to separate sections so it wasn't much different other than a greater risk of noise. But that's why I'm always armed with ear plugs.
We went to watch 21 which was alright, it's always nice to see a mathematician glamourised, but there was a few flaws and over the top fanciful bits to it.
Back at the hostel we noticed that the distance and travel required to get to Seattle was the same from Victoria as Vancouver so there was little point heading back there to head down. After more adjusting of hostel bookings, it was time for bed. Seattle wasn't in the original plan, but hey ho, why not it's close by.
