Just a quick news update... still here in Welly...
Workwise I've sidestepped my original responsibilities entirely now. I've been roped in to doing some MSAccess management information stuff. All well and good, now if only I had concentrated a bit harder in the database management course at Lanc Uni. Never mind I'm sure I'll figure it out somehow. I taught myself about 10 years ago in my first job so hopefully something will come back to me. Gulp.
Otherwise, I've been to watch Wellington Pheonix, the latest attempt at a footy team in NZ. The last attempt was in Auckland but flopped tragically. I reckon they've got a good chance, there was plenty support, not as much as rugby, but the stadium was about half full and the crowd got behind their team well. Yet more proof footy is better than atmosphereless rugby. It was a decent match with a grandstand finish, they came back from 2-0 down and in the last few minutes hit the post and headed just over, so they didn't get the winner but they did get to 2-2. If only they'd not missed an earlier penalty.
The latest exciting development is being thrown on the streets by the mad goon that runs this place. He's decided he's had enough so has given notice to everyone. He's not really given the full reason but we think it's because he's not capable as his ex who used to help him has gone abroad. Anyway, it's a pain, but I'll have to move on this time next week. I saw a hostel that did very cheap single rooms today. They're cheap because it's not a very nice place, but it'll do. I lived in a battered scummy place in ChCh so I can do it again.
I'm currently hatching detailed plans for the next exciting installment when I spend all the money I've just been saving up. I'll probably have one more weekend trip away around to New Plymouth and then see if I can get some fool to part with their cash for my motor. Fingers crossed.
