Guanajuato is a very pleasant city, yet another in this area of Mexico whose entire centre is a world heritage site. Groups of musicians, called callejoneadas, give nightly tours in song through the city's tiny streets. Mexicans' fascination with death has long been noted and the most popular museum in the city consists of over one hundred mummified bodies. It was a bit of a surreal experience - it seemed most of the visitors were noisey kids with their parents who happily played games and took pictures around the ghoulish corpses, some of which were less than 30 years dead.
