. We stopped at the local Countdown to do some shopping for the next couple of days. We are going to be travelling through a national park for 1000 km so we need to have some supples such as beer, wine, pop and snacks. After shopping we had a picnic lunch at a park table. Around 1:00 pm we started the walk up the hill to the centre of New Zealand. The incline was about 20 degrees and the elevation change was about 500 metes. It took us about 30 minutes to climb to the top. The views from the toppers amazing. After a brief rest we started down the hill. Burke contacted the airport to see if we could take the ultra light flight.the conditions appear to be ideal. We are going to drive to Motueka to find some accommodation for the night before we go for the flight. Burke mentioned that they may pick us up from the motel. We were checked in And unpacked by 4:00 pm. The flight centre picked us at 4:15 pm. The airport is 5 minutes down the road from the airport. After we signed all the waivers, we had to get weighed to ensure that we were both under 100 kg. I am not sure what Susan weighed in at but I was 92 kg. Susan was going first so she got her flight suit , sunglasses, earphones, helmet and gloves on. She got strapped in then the pilot Trevor got in. I got a video of her takeoff. She was on a 30 minute flight. I was up next. The sun was going down as we climbed to about 1000 feet. The flight was amazing. We flew up the coast line between the Tasman Bay and the Abel Tasman national park. We saw stingrays and pools of fish in the bay. Secluded beaches and hidden mansions. The scenery was beautiful! We were dropped off at the motel. When we went for our flights, Miranda, Burkus and Carter went for a walk in town of Motueka. We decided to have Chinese takeout for tea. It was very good. Miranda and Carter went to bed around 8:00 pm. Susan went to bed at 8:30 and I matched a movie and then went to bed at 10:30 pm.
I woke up at 7:00 am this morning. It was sunny and bright. The weather forecast is for a good day with a high of 25C. After breakfast and cleaning up it was time to pack the camper van. Chappy gave Burkus a refresher on how everything works in the camper van. Then we started the task of packing the van. It was likes a giant jig saw puzzle. Eventually we got all the luggage and room for each passenger arranged. We headed out at 9:35 am. We have a 21/2 hour trip to Nelson. Our first stop was the gas station to fill up the camper van with diesel. We headed out on state road 1 towards Blenheim before we head west to Nelson on state road 62.as we got closer to Nelson there was a7 km section of winding up and down roads where you could do about 30 kph. We were rolling back and forth in the back of the van. Thank goodness Carter was strapped in his car seat. He was sleeping through all of it. Also if you go off the road it is a few hundred metre drop down the cliff. We arrived in Nelson around 12:00 noon
