Last time I was here I didn't get the opportunity to wander around much. At night the city is light up with coloured lights all very lovely.
However Otavalo turned into a bit of a nightmare for me. I chased up my travel agent after not being able to check in online for my flights. Turns out the gits hadn't noticed that my international flights weren't confirmed. When they investigated, it became apparent that the airlines operating my round the world ticket had fallen out and BA had imposed restrictions. The long and the short of it was, I was no longer allowed a layover in Madrid. Because of this the ticket wasn't confirmed, but the travel agent hadn't noticed or done anything about it. Grrrrrr
Had to scrap my Madrid stop.
To add insult to injury, LAN then cancelled my flight from Quito to Lima and rescheduled to the next day. So there goes my Lima layover as well.
I had booked hotels in Lima and Madrid, so all those BA points may be lost. The travel agent said they will try to get them back but given their performance so far, I'm not holding my breath.
May had a similar problem. Tucan cancelled a leg of her on-going travels. I saw the emails, they really need to get a lesson in clear communications.
So lots of stress.
Glad when it was all sorted and I had time to wander around the craft markets.
BIt odd to see a man stop in the middle of the street, to milk his goats and sell it to a waiting child.
