Entry 6 of 6 | show all | print this entry

I worked on the preterite irregular verbs today. In the afternoon we went to Fuentes Geogenias (a Hot Springs). The heat is in both the water that comes out of the rocks and also from the rocks themselves. After the climb up EL Baul, the hot springs were a delight. It was very foggy at the top, but when we got ready to leave there were a couple of photo opportunities. Although, I am not taking tons of pictures, other on the trip are and we have agreed to share all our pictures. The Hot Springs also offered an opportunity to get to know members of our group better and also some of the other students from Sakribal School. Some times my Spanish seems to be improving and at others there seems to be no change. I must admit that I haven't been stumbling over Por and Para as much and I am doing pretty well with the regular preterite verbs.

Julio, my maestro, explains the meaning of lots of words and ideas through pictures. He is a pretty good artist. I have him laughing a lot because he often asks questions about how long ago things have happened in the past (like how many years since I was 18) that have answers greater than the 5 or 6 years he uses in the examples (he is only 23 years old). I spent all today complaining about the hike up El Baul that almost killed me (gave me plenty of times to practice the preterite.

I am still having a ball.
