My need to use Spanish started as soon as I arrived at teh airport. You would have thought that it would have occurred to me that on a Spanish airline that I would encounter a majority of people speaking Spanish. It was hard to get my mind in gear (I was hoping to ease into Spanish), but I was able to find out that there was a shorter line that those going to Guatemala (and wanted to make their flight) could use.

The flight was about an hour late boarding and then we had to wait in a queue behind 10 other planes before we could take off. As a result we were an hour late getting in. I was able to understand most of the announcements made on the plane and could even pick up on other conversations to a limited extent. I still am struggling with speaking myself (coming up with the words). I have decided to write down the words I learn to help remember them.

It was really hot in Guatemala and at 11 PM it has started raining. The bed and breakfast we are staying tonight is very night. The owner and Victor (the guy who picked me up at the airport) are very kind and helpful. The team arrived in waves. It has been nice seeing John and Joe again and catching up on what has been going on in our lives in the past 2 years. I am anxious to get start on my adventure and to get to know the rest of the better.
