G'Day Mates,
This is just a short note to let you know that we have arrived safely in Melbourne. After a short stop visiting a friend in London we headed on a 22 hour plane ride to Melbourne via Hong Kong. The first leg was quite relaxing as the plane was only half full. The second part was all right as the plane filled up. In Melbourne we're also staying with a friend ( a Melburian ). It is exactly twenty years ago that I was last in Melbourne. Things have changed. More highrise, more outside eating places and better coffee. and they're still friendly. But some things stayed the same. The Melburians are still friendly and helpful but they still drive on the wrong side of the road. We've had 4 seasons in one day and they still eat vegemite (yuk) and a good cheese is still hard to find. Also, we have some more money to spend than I did 20 years ago. So not just white bread with peanutbutter and prewrapped slices of cheddar cheese but delicious wines and excellent seafood for dinner ( yes in Claypots in Fitzroy, Raquel!).
Tomorrow we're off to the victorian countryside in our campervan. But more of that in our next blog.
Paul and Ton.
