Caught the bus back into Bangkok and headed into the centre for two nights.  Found a really nice guesthouse right in the middle of all the action, it was called Wendy House.  All our time was spent shopping, well bartering most of the time, at the MBK shopping centre and various night markets.  We were exhausted by the end of it!

After sorting more flights out we moved across the city to the old and more backpackery part, near to Khosan Road for two nights, as we had planned to visit the Grand Palace and the nearby temples.  These final two days fell on a two day national bank holiday as the monks go into the temples to begin their three month retreat - it is a bit like Lent. Everyone goes to the temple though so they were really busy. We did go and have a look, but when we got there the entrance fee was too much and the heat was unbearable, so we headed home the sanctuary of air conditioning and a massage!

This is the end of another chapter on our trip as we leave South East Asia after two and a half months. We have really enjoyed seeing this part of the world, although we're ready to move on and see something completely different....
