The train to Bangkok was full or went all round the houses, so we caught the bus instead. It's only 5 hours so no dramas! After we had found our hotel we had a look around the famous backpackery Khao San Road area and Rambutri where we were staying. We sampled some lovely street food for pennies and had the best Thai massage we've had so far! Bangkok is a big, lively, hectic city and we both liked it more than we thought we would. You have a constant battle with taxi and tuk tuk drivers wanting to know where you're going, then when you need one they don't know where you want to go!!

We spent the next few days shopping and organising flights, as we've had a change of plan.. All will be revealed at a later date... We wanted to go to one of the (in)famous shopping centres in Bangkok, so started off at the MBK - home to everything counterfeit and cheap as chips if you're prepared to barter for it. It is huge, sprawling over five floors and after about 2 hours we coudn't hack it anymore and headed home with our bargains. We both got our hair cut: wash, cut and blow dry for three quid! With half an hour each on the internet thrown in as well!

Decided to stay another night and arranged to meet our new friends Jo and Lewis one last time as they were coming to Bangkok to fly back home. Spent a lovely evening with them and then left Bangkok ourselves the next morning to go to Kanchanaburi.
