Even though we asked 2 workers at our hostel to order us a taxi for 7.30 in the morning to take us to Mendoza airport neither of them thought to mention that the clocks went forward an hour that night!! So when the taxi arrived at 6.30 (our time) we thought the taxi was an hour early when actually we were about to be an hour late for our flgiht! Keeping up?

Fortunately we were ready to go and the taxi driver floored it so we made it with minutes to spare. Needless to say Paul was pinching! Then as we were going through security he got pulled out for having the knife in the hand luggage - so I had to bribe the police to let him go, not really it was all fine, they could see he wasnīt much of a terrorist threat!!

Arrived in Puerto Iguazu and it was chucking it down, itīs in sub tropical jungle so itīs much more humid and rainy, still really hot and the rain is nice and warm. Weīre here to see the Iguazu Falls which are right on the borders of Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay. From the Argenitna side you can see them really close up and even go through them on a boat and from the Brazil side you have more of a panaoramic view of all 275 falls!

Spent New Years Eve with an Australian couple we met randomly whilst looking for somewhere for our tea. We ended up at a local parilla and had champagne at midnight with loads of fireworks and firecrackers going off everywhere.

On New Years Day we caught the bus to the falls. We were totally awestruck seeing them close up, it really is hard to comprehend just how huge and powerful they are! In complete contrast we then went on a jungle boat trip along the river which was really peaceful and quiet and saw some aligators, then later went on a jet boat down the rapids of the river and right up in front of the waterfalls then into them!! They call this the baptism. It was fantastic we got totally soaked, but it really gave us an idea of the force and the size of the falls. It was a really brilliant day, a highlight of being in Argentina.

Happy new year!
The waterfalls sound mint. Been enjoying reading your blogs during my first morning back at work after the xmas break (i'm gearing up slowly to start doing some actual work..)

We went for a curry on NYE and then to the pride of spitalfields pub (your second favourite Brown)for the big countdown. Got free party hats, and champagne (real) and sandwiches at midnight!! can't go wrong.

Take care and keep up the good work with amusing river crosing pics! Lynsey xx
