We left Santiago for a seven day bus trip south to the Lake District.  The bus takes you around the Lake District taking in sights along the way and dropping you off and picking you up the next morning....our first bit of organised touring which felt like such a treat!!

Our first stop was to the Rapel Dam a which collects the water from the Cachapoel and Tinguirica rivers to form an artificial lake holding 700million cubic meters of water. It is made entirely from clay! We also stopped off in a village which is known for making pots. There were dozens of shops selling thousands of every shape of pot you can imagine, just not very tourist friendly being heavy and breakable.

We then continued to Pichilemu went down to the beach where Nic sunbathed and I had a two hour surf lesson with some of the people on the trip....after we had donned the wetsuits we had to warm up (jogging and stretching) in front of a packed beach...not happy...then we finally got in the water. I wasn`t that good, but I think it was due to the fact the waves were big left hand breaks!!!

We then went to Punta de Lobos which is a rocky peninsula 6kms south of Pichilemu to watch the sunset and the surfers, then it was back to the hostel for the evening meal and a late night game of cards.

Knobhead
Those left hand breaks can be a bugger. I had a similar problem in Oz but it may also have been the surfboard, i think i was using one designed for left footed people.
