Arrived in Sao Paulo at Mike & RosiŽs on Friday night after a taxi ride where we could speak no Portugese and the taxi driver no English, only had an address and no credit on the phone, but we made it in the end! We were warmly welcomed by our hosts with beer and a fish finger supper - very nice indeed, just like home! Mike and I went to school together and it was the first time IŽd seen Mike in around 10 years.
When we flew into Sao Paulo it was hard to comprehend the size of the city as it stretched much further than the eye could see. There is around 17-18m inhabitants there and the city just feels absolutely huge.
It was really nice to see a familiar face and some local knowledge whilst going around the city. Mike and Rosi took us to some nice restaurants and bars - where they served really big and really strong Caiprinihas, including vodka ones and different flavours - we suffered the day after, someone in paticular more than others, with Sunday being a complete right off, whilst I went and watched more of the same recent Liverpool rubbish with Mike and his mate.
On Monday Rosi took us out to do more sight seeing around the city centre and one of the parks where we took in some culture and wildlife, which we really enjoyed. Rosi also helped us book a two day break in the north of Brazil as this city life had tired us out!!
We had a brilliant time in Sao Paulo, it is a fantastic city. It was really good to see Mike and meet his lovely wife Rosi, catching up on old times and people back home. Obrigado!!
