Crossed the Argentinian and Brazilian border with no hassle and into Brazil we went. We are just passing through Foz de Iguacu to see the falls from the Brazilian side. Checked in at the Hostel Bambu which is very nice with hammocks, outdoor kitchen and a swimming pool. So after checking the town out on the first afternoon (which is much better than Puerto Iguazu on the Argentine side) we went to the Falls on the second day. The waterfalls, views and sound of the falls were quality and after seeing it from both sides you get a much better understanding of the size of the place. It's breathtaking. That night after craving some different food we stumbled across a Lebanese cafe...houmus at last, no cheese Mcoys though!!!
We were planning to visit the Itaipu Dam in Paraguay (biggest dam and producer of hydro electric power in the world; the environmental cost of waterfalls considerably bigger than Iguacu being flooded for it to be built is kept quiet!!! Humans eh?) on the second day but after checking out we had missed the last tour so we settled for a visit to the local birdpark before we had to get to the airport. After initially thinking this was going to be a shambles of a place it turned out to be a fun little outing and lots of the birds have huge jungly spaces to fly around in. We managed to see some toucans, flamingos, humming birds and eagles, and even got our pictures taken with a parrot; proper tourists, but couldn't resist!!!
