Bariloche, Argentina

Bariloche is right on Lago Nahuel Huapi which is the biggest lake in the Patagonian Lake District - it is 100km long and 765m deep! It is quite touristy and like a ski resort. Had a quiet first day then went on a boat trip on the lake to Puerto Blest, one of its 7 branches and to the Cascada Los Cantaros (waterfalls) which were very impressive! Next to the lake is a Sequoia tree which is 1500 years old, it´s huge.

We also walked from there to Puerto Alegre on Lago Frias, which was a beautiful greeny turquoise colour. The lake is the closest we´ve been to the Chilean border, it´s literally less than a mile away there. On the way back we saw Mount Tronador which is the highest peak in the Andes at 3554m.

Later Paul found a take away steak house - fillet steak and a black pudding for 2 quid - which was so good he went back for more later after a few ales!! Bariloche is well known for its chocolate so it was only right that we sampled plenty of that! All veggie as well!! That night we saw an amazing sunset and moon rise! (see photos)
