After spending Christmas day with qantas (pasta for christmas dinner just wasn't right) we arrive to Bondi around 9pm. We are greeted by 35 drunk backpackers one of whom is Kavo (friend from home - was great to meet someone from home) and also the lovely Laura from Mexico. The atmosphere at the hostel is good but after about 3 days of we wish we weren't there for another 6 days (8 bed dorms aren't for us - not real backpackers at all).
We did the coastal walk to Coogee which was spectacular - the coastal scenery in Sydney is far more beautiful than we ever expected it to be.
After much beer and discussion we decide to buy a car to travel around the rest of Oz. We can't get the car until the 5th Jan so that means more time in expensive Sydney!! Jenny and Siobhan two more friends from Dublin arrive in time for New Years celebrations - we went down to the harbour and watched the fireworks over the opera house.
We managed to get out of the 8 bed dorm on 2nd and get our own room in Noahs hostel on Bondi Beach too.
Then on the 5th we collected our '89 Ford Falcon Station wagon and headed for the Blue Mountains! Not to be - we had a few hiccups the first day - long story short we ended up back in Sydney to get her checked over.
Jenny and Siobhan are going to travel with us to Melbourne so we collect them from the hostel (We've never seen two people so delighted to leave anywhere!! - little did they know what was ahead!!) and we're on the road to Melbourne.
