We arrive in Kuala Lumpur at 3am with no accomodation booked - we'll never learn. We check into a hostel which because I'm working off the wrong exchange rate we think is costing us double what it actually is. The next morning when we realise its only costing half we are much happier and decide to put up with the dump for 3 days. Its smack bang in the middle of Chinatown which is good for shopping and food as always. Most Malays are muslim so we got to see some pretty beautiful mosques in Kuala Lumpur - from the outside anyway everytime we went to go in we were told they were closed.
Christmas is in full flow here - all we hear everywhere is Wham and Mariah Carey. We hopped on the skytrain and checked out the Petronas Towers. You only get to go to the sky-bridge which is on the 41st floor.  Would have been so much better if there was a blue sky but still an amazing sight from up there.
Also visited a bird park - largest enclosed atrium in the world. Collection of really colourful birds and lots of birds of prey. Especially a black eagle who wanted to bite my finger off. Its a fairly unique feeling having loads of parrots & other birds flying around your head as you stroll around the park.
