We visited Bangkok 8 years ago as part of a 2 week package holiday so was good to go back and visit again. We wanted to be there for the Kings Birthday on the 5th December as there was huge celebrations. They love the King so much - its great to see. The whole of Thailand wore yellow which was amazing - we never got to find out how many people turned out on the streets for the nightime celebrations but the photos will show the sea of yellow. There was a fireworks display too which was pretty impressive.
We also did a trip to Kanchanaburi to see the Bridge over the River Kwai and to visit the Tiger Temple where the Buddhist monks have their own tiger conservation programme running.  They have been caring for and breeding tigers for 8 years now and have 15 at the moment. They are in the process of building an island where they can train the tigers to hunt and survive on their own. Eventually they hope to re-introduce them into the wild which would be amazing. 
Other than that all we did was shop, shop and shop. We posted a massive box home so hope it makes it as the postage cost us a fortune.
