Finally got moving from Vientiane, up north to Vang Vieng. We found lovely huts by the Nam Song river for $4 a night, lots of ants and spiders but we survived them.
We didn't expect much in Vang Vieng but we really enjoyed our 2 nights. Its a really beautiful part of Laos the scenery is amazing and there are lots of caves you can explore, we didn't, but apparently they're nice. We met a Dutch man, Steve, on our first night there which led to a bit of a session, to say the least, and a bad hangover the next day. Had a great laugh though.
Spent the next day tubing down the river which was all we were fit for. As you float and bob your way down all the bars on the banks throw out ropes and sticks to drag you in for a shot of Lao Lao (Rice whiskey) and a beer. Great way to spend the day!!
