We left Saigon for Mui Ne with the intention of staying there for 3 nights. Its only a 3 hour bus journey (which actually took 5 and half hours - but sure who's counting). Mui Ne is a small fishing village with a fantastic beach and a growing tourist industry. There are lots of resorts and hotels being built all along the coast. We found a lovely resort with huts right on the beach for $6 a night including breakfast.

When we checked in we hit the beach straight away, its beautiful but quite windy and so attracts alot of windsurfers and kite surfers. As this is our first beach stop on our trip we got a bit carried away and ended up staying 7 nights. We did absolutely nothing but eat, drink,swim and sunbathe. What a break, we were dreading leaving, it was as if we had to go back to work!!! We met a couple who were staying there for 3 weeks, jealous as we were we would miss out on the rest of Vietnam if we stayed any longer. We're already thinking we may not make it to Laos because we won't have time. But the route changes everyday so hopefully we will.

If anyone is planning a trip to Vietnam make sure you include some time in Mui Ne its the most relaxing time we have spent on the trip...
