Where I stayed
Prince Edward Island is the place where Lucy Maud Montgomery, the author of 'Anne of Green Gables' was born, and where she wrote her books. 'Anne of Green Gables' is such a popular book it has been translated into 30 different languages.
We ride a couple of hours to Caribou in Nova Scotia to take the ferry to Prince Edward Island which is a 75 minute trip.
Along the way I give Paul a rundown of the book I love so much, so he knows all about it.
We ride your bike onto the ferry with cars and trucks, park and then head on up deck to see the view as you cross
We visit Green Gables, Avonlea, Lucy Maud Montgomery's birthplace and the Museum.
The scenery here is lovely. You can see beautiful farms and fields of potatoes and wheat with a backdrop of the ocean.
To leave the island you cross Confederation Bridge which is 12.9 kms long. An amazing bridge to see and travel over.
We normally reach our destination by nightfall as we don't like to ride at night, but we are running behind schedule today. There are signs on the road to look out for moose so at dusk my job is to keep a keen eye out for wildlife. We don't encounter any and arrive at Chateau Saint John by 9pm
We get a lovely room with two Queen sized beds. We have been on the go for five days now and we both need a good rest.
