This morning we have an early buffet breakfast at 6:30am as we have to be assembled by 7:30am for our rafting day trip.  It is cold and raining today so we are going to be wet all day.  We suit up with our personal floatation device, helmets and paddles and take a 10 minute bus ride to the Lower New River for a full day of rafting where we will experience category 3, 4 and 5 rapids.  We have been told Niagara Falls is considered category 6 so category 5 is huge and we were given a lengthy talk on safety to prepare us.

The white water rafting was incredible and we had an amazing time.  Part of the full day trip is pulling over onto a bank where the rafting guides cook us a BBQ for lunch.  They provided snacks, drinks, really great burgers and dessert too.

We saw a bald headed eagle today - so amazing.  They are actually very rare for this area. We also saw a deer and her fawn swimming on the rivers edge.

It got to 68 degrees today which is only 20 degrees Celsius - incredible for the middle of summer!

We finished around 3pm and headed back to our cabin.  We were cold through and through and headed straight for the hot tub on the back deck to thaw out.

We put on dry clothes and then headed back to the bar to see the video of the day.  Paul got lots of cheers, a lot of high fives and a round of applause for his efforts - but you will have to watch the video to see why, especially near the end of the video. Look for Paul in the blue helmet on the left hand side of the raft.  I am wearing a yellow helmet and sitting in front of him.

We have a few beers and 80% proof moonshine in the bar before a well earned buffet dinner with oysters, roast turkey and vegetables.

To be honest we are completely shattered by the energy spent today white water rafting.  We both think we are still kids and love the adventure.
