Anyway, our second and final day in Kuala Lumpur had a very straightforward itinerary attached to it.........'look at big buildings!!!' First up was the KL Tower. It is the 5th tallest communications building in the world and stands at a pretty big 421m. We had a wander around the viewing deck, where we could get a decent view of the city (obviously) and were able to easily pick out the more famous 'Petronas Towers', which, continuing my 'film theme' from the last blog, were featured in a film called 'Entrapment', where Zeta-Jones and Connery basically nick stuff
Right, the next morning we checked out and just had a wander to see if, by chance, there was actually gonna be a bus there for us! Not only was there one there, but it was kitted out with air-con, fully reclining massive seats and a flip-up foot rest!! And it got us to Singapore at a decent pace! The moral of the story......always buy tickets from strangers in the street!!!
So, Singapore. We didn't have much time here either so our itinerary here was also basic - look at stuff from a tour bus!! We basically did a lap of the city and then 'hopped on and off' the bus where we wanted to see places in a bit more detail. It's a beautifully clean city, not very densely populated but with enough people to create a bit of a buzz around the place. Although we couldn't be further from home, its got a very 'English' feel to it. The British have a bit of history here and you can certainly tell! Easy travelling...I like it! Christ it's not cheap though!! A trip on a big wheel thingy cost about £25!! No chance! The skyline is gorgeous - the best we've seen! They have a luxury hotel called the Marina Bay Sands hotel that looks like a giant ironing board! Weird, but it works!! By night we went to have a look at the newly developed 'Super Trees', which are man-made structures made to resemble trees that take and use all of their energy from entirely natural resources
The following night we watched a mini half-hour concert (free!) of a pianist who played songs from the movies. Heavily featured were the Lion King, Pocahontas and Land before Time. He was excellent actually! Something we wouldn't normally do, but because we're both tight as cramp, we see 'free' and we're there!! A water show infront of the Singapore skyline was a fitting end to our short stay here. Our fave city so far!
To finish, we'd just like to wish Amanda and Si a MASSIVE congratulations on the birth of little Chloe Sophia! We can't wait to meet her!! X
