So, our flight from Siem Reap to Bangkok was an expensive alternative to getting a Thai visa but is was nice to be on a 55 minute flight instead of a 12 hour bus ride! Our time in Bangkok started with the now familiar task of wandering around trying to find our hostel. Only this time it was made more entertaining as Paul shouted "EEE ARRRE" to a Thai woman who he thought was me as he spotted a sign for our hostel!!!! Her face was sooo funny!!
We only had 2 full days in Bangkok and we had 2 goals, go shopping at MBK and go ladyboy spotting on Khao San Road!
That night we went to the famous Khao San Road and it did not disappoint! Bars on either side selling ridiculously cheap drinks whilst street vendors sell fried insects on sticks and drunk people get tattoos! A few beers, vodkas and cocktails later we got chatting to 2 American lads who signalled to us to look at the girl to their right. After about half an hour of 'is she isn't she' we decided she was a ladyboy with her strong jaw line being the giveaway! I wonder if the western lad she was with knew.......?? After a bit of dancing with some new Thai friends and the sound clashes from the bars getting worse and worse we decided it was time for home.
Needless to say we were both rough as toast the next day with Paul only managing half of his MacDonalds at teatime! However, we had no time to feel sorry for ourselves as the American lads had invited us to join them at a Muay Thai boxing night. Not really my thing but after forcing Paul to see the Beijing Acrobatics and the Vietnamese Water Puppets I couldn't really object!! I actually enjoyed it more than I thought I would!! Muay Thai is boxing where they can punch, kick, knee and elbow their opponent. It sounds quite brutal and at some points it did get too much for me to watch
Bangkok : Mission Accomplished!!
After that we made our way to Hua Hin which is our base for a whole week over Christmas! A massive thank you to both of our families who gave us money before we left as we used it to get a posh hotel here! It is really lovely and a welcome change from the hostels!
All that's left to say is MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY!!! Hope you all have an amazing time! We will be thinking of you all!
