Crossing the Cook Strait
Entry 38 of 49 | show all | print this entry |
We headed back to Picton Early afternoon taking the scenic drive through Queen Charlotte Sounds, although to be honest I didn't see much scenery as I was constantly moving the steering wheel from left to right at 20km an hour, trying to make sure we didn't drive off the edge. To get an idea of how convoluted the Sounds are (If anyone wants to know what a sound is - it is similar to a fiord.) in Marlborough Sounds, Pelorus Sound is 42km long but has 379km of Shoreline. That should give you an idea of how much fun it is driving along one of them. As we were back in Picton on Friday, we decided to change our ferry to Saturday afternoon, as the bad weather was affecting anything that could be done. We had Curry Chips in Seumus's Irish Pub (they were ok, but nothing special) and a pint/Archers aqua Alco pop. It is now Saturday Morning. The rain has not stopped since about 7pm last night and we head to the North Island at 1.15pm
Speak to you all soon

Sorry to hear that rain has stopped play, I guess thats the joys of being down under, down under in the autumn, ah well Im sure its nice and dry in the pubs and us Irish are always good at finding them. You two try and and enjoy it, never mind the rain you are still making memories that will last a lifetime. Keep on moving and see as much as you can, you have certainly covered a lot of ground so ... show all
