Gateway to North Island
Entry 36 of 49 | show all | print this entry |
Picton is the gateway to the Marlborough Sounds and to the North Island. When we arrived late afternoon we decided to go and book our ferry for the North Island. There are 2 many Ferry's that sail the Cook Strait to Wellington. We ended up booking the Interislander ferry for the Sunday Morning at 10am. We thought this would be suitable as it was only Wednesday and we still had to go and visit Nelson, which was a 220km round trip. We finished the day in the Campsite, getting quite drunk on duty free vodka and gin (Might I say the only time on our trip in NZ so far - We are losing our Irishness). We woke up the next day, with both are mouths feeling like Gandhi's flip flops and our brains still in hibernation. After a few hours recomposing ourselves, we decided to move onto Nelson.
