The next stop on the map for us was Wanaka. Being a carrot cake lover Jo & Kerry had advised me to stop at a wee café where they had a beautiful carrot cake... after finding the place they were talking about (Relishes Café on Ardmore Street for future reference) can say that they were not joking. It was honestly the nicest carrot cake I have ever tasted!

After a coffee and carrot cake, we decided that we would like to indulge in a taste of luxury, so we checked into Aspiring Caravan Park and relaxed with a DVD in the movie room before an hour with our own private spa and sauna with views overlooking the mountain ranges.

The next day we took a walk to Diamond Lake (nothing special) and a walk up Rocky Mountain to views overlooking Lake Wanaka making the uphill battle worth the effort. We then headed onto Stuart Landsborough's Puzzling World just outside of town. We found our way around The Great Maze (Labyrinth), apparently the first in the world of it's kind, and went into the illusion rooms, where we entered the room of the following faces and even went into a room that was on an angle so what felt like a gravitational field was pulling us around like a couple of drunks and had strange attractions like water running uphill, and many other strange attractions.

We have both said that if it wasn't for the whole distance from home thing, we could see ourselves settling in Wanaka.
