Show trip route
Yesterday, we woke early for a magical mystery tour with the Sisters. Andrew was not well so it was just Roisin, Paul and I off to a destination unknown. We were picked up by Mr Nui in a mini bus full of Street Kids. I would just like to add here that the title Street Kids is very misleading. My impression was that, these were children living on the streets and imagined them to be a real handful, I couldn't have been more wrong. These are the sweetest children I've ever met. I stepped on the bus and was greeted by a little 7 year old girl called Patti patting the seat beside her for me to sit next to her. Even through our language barrier it was so easy to communicate with her through using a made up sign language that we both understood, all she wanted was smiles and cuddles. She is just one of many, all of who are the most well mannered children I or anyone could ever wish to meet. They are basically children who would otherwise be walking the streets if it weren't for this organisation being set up to cope with the children being left homeless due to poverty and abandonment. I'm not going to waffle on, but more information can be found on their website ( http://www.sknews.co.nr/ ) or ( http://www.fr-ray.org/ and select the street kids link.) and if anyone would like to sponsor one of these children, it is a small cost of 10 pound a month, which goes a very long way to helping the child. if you are interested, please contact either Paul or I, or Roisin directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Anyway, we were taken to a Thai Confirmation to watch the procession and ceremony, as today the children are taking part in the Pattaya confirmation by dressing up as wee angels and throwing rose petals as part of the occasion) Although this was different to what we thought our day would be, it was an amazing experience and we now that the Thai people don't half put on a show, not just for the shows we have paid to see but also for the private shows that they celebrate amongst themselves.
Today, we are having an easy day, and spending a bit of time with Andrew and Roisin before flying later tonight to Australia.
All in all, Thailand has been an amazing experience. We came with no expectations and have left with an impression and stories that will last a lifetime. We would also like to say thank you to Andrew, Roisin and all their special friends for showing us the real Thailand.
