Hello to all.
We arrived in Petrie over a month ago, and we are finally leaving it today...
It has been a great base to use (as it is free with hot showers) as we were able to travel to a lot of places from there.
Since the last update, we been to a few more places.
We went for an overnight stay on Bribie Island, which is about 50k NE from Petrie.
I would recommend this to anyone visiting Brisbane. Although it is an Island, you can drive on to it.Some of the views are excellent. Unfortunately the Sunset over the Glass House Mountains was too cloudy.
We Stayed overnight in a secluded carpark beside the beach and Sand dunes
We also got to see a wonderful site of a Dolphin diving up in the air, completely out of the water. All in all an excellent experience.
We also spent a night in Caloundra at a lake. (For the life of me i can not remember the name - Lake Culimandi or something). Again just somewhere different to see.
One night in Brisbane, our good friend Shane brought us to view a few sights that most Backpackers don't get a chance to see.
We went to Mt Cootha. Just south of Brisbane, at night this gives a wonderful view from the Gold Coast to the Sunshine Coast.
We also got to see the Brisbane Skyline at night from just above the cliffs that Brisbane was carved out from. Thank you Shane.
We also had the joy of seeing Sammy Nachos (the local Koala) who Ciara had been looking for the whole time that we were in Petrie. On our final night as a whole group, wee Sammy came down a tree and walked across the grass and up another tree about 3 meters away from us
Homer now appears to be working fine.Hence why we are now heading uo North. Unfortunately we have had to leave Shane at the park, but we will be meeting back up with him on the way back down in a month. Steve has also left, but for a different reasons. Some German Friends of his had a bad accident in Mackay and he is currently up with them.
We have met up with Phil and Julie, who have finally reached Brisbane and the 4 of us our travelling together.
Currently we are in Noosa, which is the start of the Sunshine Coast. We have just booked a package, so over the next 2 weeks we will be going to Airlie Beach and Hervey Bay. We will be on a 4WD Self drive safari on Frazer Island for a few nights and Sailing on the Whitsundays through the Great Barrier reef (Including a Scuba Dive) - possibly over my birthday on the 10th July. A wee bit expensive, but hey you can't come to Australia and not do all these trips.
That is everything up to date. Not as much as usual, however i am sure we will have loads to tell after the next few weeks.
Speak to you all soon
