Well! We have now been here for a week, and so much has happened! We met Linzi & Sandon on Saturday! We spent the day in the bar at Tin Billys the boys playing pool and the girls gossiping and catching up! Then headed to Fortitude Valley to check out the night life! We ended up not getting into anywhere as I stupidly enough didn't bring I.D with me! Apparantly it's needed everywhere in Oz, nomatter how old you are! (Ah well we know for future reference!)

We bought the paper and spent Sunday looking for jobs and accommodation! We viewed our first house on Sunday... a room in shared accommodation costing $115.00 for the two of us per week! We decided to take it, putting down a $50 deposit to secure it for us! Then selected the jobs that we would apply for on the Monday morning!

Monday morning came, and Paul was first to make a phone call (to a call centre of course!) He was asked to come down for an interview later that morning! So, with little time, we got washed dressed and headed out feeling confident! I was sitting outside waiting reading the paper for jobs for myself, when Paul being Paul came out and said they'd see me for an interview now aswell! Apparantly planned all along, but a good idea as I didn't have time to get nervous! Well, we both got the job!!!! $17 and hour and working 3.30pm - 8.30pm Monday to Friday (perfect World Cup hours and good money!) We would be phoning people and trying to get them to change to a cheaper home loan! We took the job and started it on Wednesday past!

I had never done call centre work and was so nervous, but Paul convinced me that i would be fine, and besides the advert said 'No experience necessary, full training would be provided! He was right, I could do it... a drunk monkey could have done it! The training was the worst I'd ever seen and we were basically left to fend for ourselves, once we we read our script twice (one really crap paragraph), and shadowed the dimmest people in Australia at what they called work!!! (Real work would have killed them!)

Today was moving day! So we were up early to check out of our hostel and move into our first Aussie pad!!! How exciting! We didn't get the keys until this evening so we dropped of our bags and headed back to hostel bar for a cup of tea! While sitting chatting we decided that we just didn't feel right! We were here in Australia and working in a job to pay the rent and didn't have the flexibility to see as much as we wanted to so.....

We have now went back to the house and collected our bags and checked back into the hostel, then went up to work and told our boss (of 2 days) that we wouldn't be back as we were going to see a bit of Oz!!! Which is exactly what we are doing! We have bought a Liteace! A small van that has been converted to have a mattress in the back of it with storage underneath for rucksacks and basically our lives! We plan to be on the road from Monday, but we'll see how it goes! We got a tent included in the price if anybody would like to come and visit!)

We are now proper backpacking hippies and we're going to take Australia by storm!

We will be heading up the Gold coast to the barrier reef over next few weeks so if anyone has any contact feel free to inform us.
As for watching the world cup and showering even.... we will work that one out in due course.

Well I'd have to say that you are not going to get what you may have expected .
Every state is different and if you've tralled in Europe the countries are take as states here you can expect that to be the same.. Cheers...P.S. you're heading the wrong way unless you want to experience a fierce cyclone season... Good Luck.... P.S. find yourself in Church, a good refuge for more than one reason..
